(Los Angeles) - What an incredible opening game of the season!! Dallas looked like they were about to run away with it. And then Kobe just took over. Fade away jumpers with a hand in face did not bother him. Collison had a chance to put Dallas up 5, but missed both free throws. Only down three with 15 seconds left the Lakers brought it up. "I don't think they knew what to do. Antawn had the ball with under ten seconds left and I kept looking for him to pass to Kobe. Never happened, " Mayo shared during post-game news conference. Jamison pulled up and buried his first three of the game as time expired sending the game into overtime and the Staples Center into a frenzy.

Overtime is when OJ Mayo shined. He took over and willed the Mavericks to a huge win. It did help that Kobe couldn't hit the broadside of a barn during the overtime period.

The Sunbelt Conference is being replaced by the NCAA. The president of the NCAA has yet to comment on the situation, but many speculate the change is due to lack of competition. Others believe this is all about money. Regardless of the reason why, the Sunbelt Conference has been replaced with a Division III conference, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

The ODAC has added four additional schools into their conference: Christopher Newport, Cabrini, Williams and Virginia Wesleyan.

Here is the conference outlook for the ODAC:
(1) Randolph-Macon College Yellowjackets
(2) Bridgewater Eagles
(3) Hampden-Sydney Tigers
(4) Emory & Henry Wasps
(5) Shenandoah Hornets
(6) Christopher Newport Captains
(7) Virginia Wesleyan Marlins
(8) Williams College Ephs

I have recently started a new dynasty with another family member. We will be playing as the rival team in South Carolina: Clemson and South Carolina. We are currently in week 10.

South Carolina and Clemson have each hired a new head coach. Chuck Bartowski landed the South Carolina job while Jethro Noonan is at Clemson. Neither one of them have any previous experience coaching. Chuck is the Founder/CEO of Carmichael Industries specializing in IT. Jethro worked for several law enforcement agencies for nearly twenty years. Both are tremendous leaders and will bring an unquenchable fire to their respective squads.

Coach Bartowski and the Gamecocks are 8-0(6-0), leading the SEC and the number one team in the nation. Coach Noonan and the Tigers are 8-1(6-0), leading the ACC Atlantic Division and number seven in the nation. Clemson's only loss is to the Georgia Bulldogs who are now number three in the country.

The rivalry between South Carolina and Clemson is quickly heating up. Noonan signed a big time recruit by the name of Pedro Archie (#1 ATH - Lovelock, NV). This came as a big surprise to South Carolina fans and more importantly, Coach Bartowski. During one of the post-game news conference, Chuck let the world of college football "some believe that they are above the law and continually break guidelines to recruiting set by the NCAA." Noonan has handled the criticism perfectly and has not responded. Pedro is having a stellar season playing both quarterback and cornerback. He will be able to play either position on the college level. More recruiting news to come soon.

H-SC stuns UCLA in Cali

Hampden-Sydney became a Division I school just this year when they joined the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Coach Vick and his Tigers did not wait to make some noise. Hampden-Sydney went to UCLA and beat them fairly easily. Coach Vick told us "it was like [UCLA] did not take us seriously. That is troubling to me as a coach. That is something that comes from the top down. If I don't take an opponent seriously, do you really think my players will?" Stephen Vassor and JaVonte Reddick were both sensational scoring 15 and 11 points respectively in their collegiate debut. Junior Greg Lewis struggled from beyong the arc hitting only 1 of 6.

Joe Morris could potentially be a great quarterback. His acceleration is way above average with above average speed. For a true freshman, his throw power is as good as anyone currently on the Ducks roster. His major flaw is his ability to read defenses. Bauer is taking a chance hoping Morris' athleticism will outshine his slow development.

Mike Keller has slightly above average speed, but below average acceleration. He will be the best press corner the Ducks have with average man to man and zone coverage abilities. Keller's vertical jump is better than any current Oregon corner.

In just his second year, Jack Bauer has taken the Terrapins to the BCS title game and left victorious. Maryland walked over #2 UCLA, winning 56-28.
Stefon Diggs (picture above) walks into the end zone. Junior running back Brandon Ross had over 300 yards rushing. Maryland had a special year going undefeated, winning Big 10 championship, and becoming the national champions.

It has been reported several schools called Bauer to try and get him to leave Maryland. After Georgia went 2-9 this year, Bauer was reported to be the top candidate for the job. However, Bauer's defensive coordinator (Brian Stewart) had contacted Georgia and stole the job from Bauer. Later in the week, news came out that Bauer turned down the South Carolina job because he was more interested in pursuing the job in Athens. Steve Spurrier has retired.

Then the unexpected, Rob Mullens called Bauer. Mullens, Oregon Ducks AD, offered Bauer the job. Bauer did not even have to think about it. He took it on the spot fearing someone else may try to steal his opportunity. The Ducks have had some great teams, but have fallen short lately. Mullens believes Bauer can bring his program to the next level and bring home the prestigious honor of being national champion.

Hogs beat Saban, again

Coach Jenkins and the #1 Razorbacks stun the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide for the second time this year winning the National Title by the score of 28-23. Alabama had the game won, but could not stop Arkansas when it really mattered giving up a late game winning touchdown.

After the season, Louisville pursued Coach Jenkins after Charlie Strong left to be the head coach at LSU. Penn State also attempted to sign Jenkins as their football coach after firing Bill O'Brien who is now South Alabama's head coach. Coach Jenkins vowed to stay at Arkansas. Sources close to Jenkins say he would be more interested in an opportunity to coach at the next level than to go to another school.

Recruiting has gotten a huge bump from the recent success. Both the number one quarterback and running back have signed with Arkansas. QB Gary Tate (Manhattan Beach, CA) and HB Reggie McKenzie (Wichita Falls, TX) were big signings for the Razorbacks. They and many others from the freshman class will not see the field this upcoming season. Jenkins has been very upfront telling the kids that he plans on redshirting all of them.

The University of Arkansas announced its decision to hire Von Jenkins. Coach Von Jenkins is from the Northwest Arkansas/Southwest Missouri area, but that's about a prettiest picture we can paint. The guy lacks any kind of experience coaching. The hiring of Von Jenkins is an absolute shock because reports had came out that Bret Bielema was going to be the next head coach of the Razorbacks.

It is believed one reason for selecting Von Jenkins was for senior Brandon Mitchell. Mitchell came out and said point blank "if Arkansas hired Bielema, I'm gone." This comes as no surprise as earlier some unnamed players at Arkansas told ESPN "[Brandon] Mitchell did not want to play for Bielema."

During the press conference, Von Jenkins stressed the importance of "sealing up the borders and keeping the Arkansas boys in Fayetteville." Local fans are highly skeptical of the move and are frustrated believing this was an awful hire. Only time will tell.

John Cena, Mankind, Vader, CM Punk and the Rock faced off in a championship scramble. The Rock has gone on record and said that Vince McMahon set up this match to screw him out of the title. McMahon had The Rock start off with Vader knowing Vader wanted revenge after losing at Summerslam. Mankind entered the match as Vader was receiving the People's Elbow.

Surprisingly, none of the participants used weapons since it was a no DQ match. CM Punk and then John Cena showed up. Mankind almost had The Rock for a three count, but somehow The Rock kicked out with just a few seconds left. The match was a draw allowing The People's Champ to retain gold. Vader was hit with several Rock Bottoms, but the Rock could never get a three count.

Staples Center, L.A. -- The Rock is in the main event of Summerslam as the #1 contender against Vader for the WWE Championship. Vader has been the WWE Champion since his last pay-per-view win against Mankind. The Rock won a triple threat match with Mankind and CM Punk to become the #1 contender. The Rock made short work of Vader nailing him a People's Elbow and Rock Bottom becoming the new WWE champion.

The following Raw had The Rock versus Ken Shamrock (United States Champion) in a Champion vs. Champion match. Shamrock was defeated easily by The Rock. Shamrock stormed away pissed since he was legitimately thought he had a chance against The Rock.
